There is a speech and debate tournament coming up! It is at Santa Clara University, and is on March 27th and 28th! Sorry for the short notice.
Remember all varsity members, this is the last tournament this year with varsity, and you must go to one tournament for the year! If you do not, you will be removed from the team.
Prices Are:

You may have noticed that the site was down for the past few weeks... our webhost has been giving us a little trouble.
Nevertheless, we are up and running again, but some content has been temporarily lost. Thus, if you see placeholder text (i.e. excerpts from great literary works) or images, please disregard it (or appreciate it). Your accounts and all information postings should be fine, so keep on learning about S&D!

Spring Tournaments

Hello everyone!

For any of you lucky to check the website at this hour... we have two tournaments coming up that need urgent signup. These are Berkeley and St. Francis. If you want to compete in any of those tournaments, please inform Ms. Perry about it BY WEDNESDAY (tomorrow).

Berkeley is a Speech and LD tournament on February 13-15, and the prices are $100 per LD debater, $45 per duo performer, and $40 per individual event entrant.

St. Francis is a Parli only tournament this Sunday at St. Francis High School. It is $20 per team.

In addition to these tournaments, we also have the James Logan High School tournament coming up over the Martin Luther King weekend. This is a pretty major tournament, and we will send out more e-mails and give you an opportunity to sign up ASAP.

Good luck to you all on Sunday and Saturday! Thanks to everyone who signed up for Milpitas, and if you didn't get to sign up this time, go to the next tournament at the beginning of December!

Now here's some specific information on what to bring, when/where to meet, and more (at least for Debate). For speech, please contact Akaash or Samuel for more information.

Anyways, specific information for Debate:
-Meeting time: We will meet around 7:25 at the CHS bus circle, and leave at 7:30 to be safe. Please don't be late, because judges must be at Milpitas by 8, and it takes at least 20 minutes to get there.
-At Milpitas: We will most likely be meeting up at the school's cafeteria, and we need to quickly reserve some chairs/tables for our team.
-Rides: Please coordinate rides with your friends, or e-mail us at admin[at]tinosd.org if you really can not find a ride. If your parent is not judging and you prefer to go to Milpitas independently, please e-mail us also.
-How to get there: The address of Milpitas High is 1285 Escuela Way, Milpitas, CA. ( Click Here for Google Maps directions)
-What to Bring: Bring pens, paper, your debate handouts (useful for reference), money for lunch/food, homework, or anything that can help inform you or keep you entertained during the hours of downtime that we will be having.
-What to Wear:Please come dressed in formal attire (as seen in our picture gallery). This means a suit, tie, shirt, and slacks for guys, and whatever girls wear formally for girls.
The first round starts at about 8:30, although this is subject to change.

Milpitas Permission Slips

If you didn't know already, the Milpitas Tournament is coming up in less than TWO weeks on November 14 (speech) and 15 (debate). To not get confused about who is and isn't going, we're going to ask that you turn in a permission slip that also has other vital tournament information on it.
Please download this slip by right-clicking here, and turn it in to an officer NO LATER THAN NOVEMBER 10th (there's no school on the 11th).

For more general information about the tournament, it will be located at Milpitas High School, which is at 1285 Escuela Pkwy, Milpitas, CA 95035. The tournament will probably last all day (about 7:30 a.m. to 7+ p.m.), but you only need to go on Saturday for speech or Sunday for debate. There's a tentative schedule in the permission slip/information form, although tournaments usually end up not following those.

Milpitas & More Forms

Hello, everyone! We have our first tournament coming up on November 14/15 at Milpitas High School (unless something weird changes the location). We're sorry that we can't provide more specifics right now, since tournament organizers are usually pretty late with specifics.

In the meantime, mark your calendars and free up your schedules for those dates. The tournament will probably last all day, with speech events occurring specifically on the 14 and debate events occurring specifically on the 15.
Remember to go to three consecutive practices before this tournament so you will be eligible to compete. This way, you can have adequate preparation to own other competitors!

Since we need judges, if your parents are available for that weekend, please tell them to come judge! We can't sign up without judges, and your parents will be away from you even if they're judging at the tournament. If they have any questions, please tell them to e-mail admin[at]tinosd.org.

Also, since some bureaucrats had an awkward sense of humor, Medical Forms are now required for competition participants. Please get one from Ms. Perry at the next meeting, and get it signed ASAP.

This is just a reminder to TURN IN YOUR FORMS by TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 29. This means that you should give us your Membership Application, $30 dues, and Legal form by the aforementioned date.
Please either stop by Ms. Perry's room (103) or find an officer to turn in your form. Remember, if you don't turn in your forms, you won't be a legit member of the club and won't be allowed to compete.

Hello, and welcome to Tino Speech and Debate!
If you attended our informational meeting, you probably know a bit about us already. Regardless, there's more Tino S&D information all around this website, especially in the "about" section. This website will be a central information repository with tournament dates, events, news, information, and more... all just a few clicks away.
If you're still conflicted about whether to join, check out our "why join" page, or if you want to start exploring events, look around in the "debate" and "speech" sections.
Also, we know that lots of people didn't get signup forms at the informational meeting today, and we apologize for that.

Informational Meeting

Tino Speech and Debate will be having its informational meeting on Wednesday, September 9 in room 103 at lunch. Come to find out why S&D is perfect for you, and get a preview of what makes our team tick. Sign up forms will be handed out at this meeting, so make sure to come so that you can join!
As we are officially a "team" this year, there will be some new improvements with our organization, so if you've been away from S&D for a while and want to re-join, be sure to attend. If you have schedule conflicts but still want to join, be sure to contact us for a sign up form (we will also hopefully post a copy on this website).
